Introduction: The content of these manuals is based on the example of how Jesus Christ trained his disciples when he lived here. We learn at least three things from his example.

  1. Jesus helped his followers know and understand his Father in heaven more completely. This was his first and greatest purpose. This is the purpose of BOOK ONE – to help you and other disciples to know and understand God more fully and completely. The more you know and understand your Eternal Father, the more you will want to trust and cooperate with him (which is addressed in Book Two). See also John 17: 1-26, John 5:36-44, and John 6:44-46.
  2. Jesus helped his followers grow in their attitudes, character, and habits, more than learning a lot of knowledge. This is the purpose of BOOK TWO – to help you and other disciples learn to live your lives so you can be close to Jesus in every situation, no matter what happens in this world.
  3. Jesus formed a spiritual family as the best place for his followers to learn and grow. This is the purpose of BOOK THREE – to help you and other disciples understand and practice God’s plans for your marriage, your family, and your spiritual family (church) – so that you can grow as a member of the Lord’s eternal family in every possible way.

These three manuals put the focus on God, our Eternal Father, who is training all his children at all times and in all circumstances. This reality is summarized in Romans 8:28-29, where it says God is using all things in our lives to conform us to be like his Son, Jesus Christ. This kind of training can be compared to the analogy of a student learning in school:

  • The first manual helps students get to know the Teacher.
  • The second manual helps the students understand the lessons that the Teacher is teaching them.
  • The third manual helps the students understand the classroom where the Teacher is teaching them.
